This includes plant collections in botanical gardens and arboreta, herbaria, academic research collections, and nature centers.

Collections To Enter By Species

Select the rare plant species you have in your collection and then indicate the type of collection you have by clicking the boxes. You can choose multiple boxes for the same species. For example, the same species may be grown in a research collection (R) and be on display in an education collection (E/D).

Types of Collections tracked in SERPIN:

  • Research (R): living plant collections used for study
  • Education/Display (E/D): living plant collections used for teaching or display at your institution
  • Seed Bank (SB): seeds stored at your institution for multiple uses
  • Safeguarding/Germplasm (S/G): documented living plants housed at your institution to protect from extirpation
  • Herbarium (H): herbarium collections of pressed, annotated plant species
